St. Croix, VI — Opened in 1995, St. Croix Educational Complex High School proudly begins its 30th year on the first day of the 2025–2026 school year with the unveiling of the “I Love SCEC” sculpture project. Created in partnership with artist and educator Mr. Dwydale Dariah and Ms. Danica David, this bold and vibrant installation celebrates three decades of school pride, community engagement, and the rich cultural heritage of the Virgin Islands.
Dariah and David began working on the sculpture at the end of the 2024–2025 school year, dedicating seven weeks of their summer vacation to bring this vision to life.
Located at the front entrance of the outer campus grounds, the sculpture is a welcoming sight for students, faculty, alumni, and the wider community. It serves as a daily reminder of the students’ identity, accomplishments, and deep connection to their alma mater. The piece will stand as a lasting symbol of creativity and pride, inspiring cultural enrichment and unity as the school marks this important milestone. Principal Mr. Rodney Moorehead and Fine Arts Assistant Principal Dr. Erick Wille fully support the project, recognizing its value in strengthening school spirit and community bonds.
Funding for the sculpture was made possible through generous grants from the Virgin Islands Council on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, reflecting their commitment to making art an essential part of education and community life.
The “I Love SCEC” sculpture is more than an art installation. It is a celebration of heritage, identity, and the power of art to unite and uplift St. Croix as the school begins its milestone 30th year.
